I believe what happened to Joe is a little harsh but it was his choice. No one forced him to pull the trigger but it also shows you part of his character. He can't face the facts of what he did was wrong and with the epiphany that not only do people make mistakes but he was wrong to think that it was only Steve's fault. Joe was a good character but in the end his death was justified but harsh. The way that I see it is that he went a little extreme with killing himself but people get desperate and they take the easy way out of this complicated thing called life.
